The committee tasked with overseeing the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary in Ondo State announced on Friday that a total of 171,922 accredited members would vote on Saturday.

The primary is set to take place across 203 wards in 18 local government areas, with 16 aspirants, including the incumbent governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, vying for the party’s ticket.

After a meeting with stakeholders and aspirants on Friday night in Akure, the Secretary of the seven-man committee, Ovie Omo-Agege, disclosed this information.

Omo-Agege stated that none of the aspirants had withdrawn or stepped down for another candidate before the eve of the exercise.

He affirmed the committee’s readiness to conduct the primary using the direct mode in all 203 wards across the state.

The Secretary appealed to the aspirants to urge their supporters to ensure the peaceful conduct of the primary for the party’s progress.

Omo-Agege assured that the committee would adhere strictly to the guidelines and constitution of the party, ensuring a transparent, fair, and credible election.

He also mentioned the committee’s collaboration with the security agencies in the state to prevent any breakdown of law and order before, during, and after the primary.

The committee is chaired by Governor Usman Adodo of Kogi.
