Kwara Police Expose Shocking Kidnapping Racket 11 Suspects Paraded, Including Self-Kidnapping Deception....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
In a startling revelation, the Kwara State police command has unveiled the arrest of 11 suspects linked to a web of criminal activities, including kidnapping, armed robbery, and a bizarre case of self-kidnapping. The State Commissioner of Police, Victor Olaiya, disclosed this unsettling development during a press conference held at the command’s headquarters in Ilorin on Thursday.
According to Olaiya, the command has intensified efforts to combat crime in the state, resulting in the apprehension of approximately 60 suspected kidnappers, including notable kingpins, over the past six months. Furthermore, the recent crackdown on criminal elements led to the arrest of 28 suspected cultists, who are currently detained at the Oke-Kura Correctional Center in Ilorin.
Among the paraded suspects were individuals allegedly involved in heinous acts such as kidnapping, armed robbery, attempted culpable homicide, and phone theft. The recovery of incriminating evidence, including firearms, ammunition, charms, and an international passport, underscores the gravity of their offenses.
One particularly disturbing case highlighted by Commissioner Olaiya involved the arrest of Isah Umaru for the alleged abduction of four victims. These victims, including Atilola Sarafa, Mrs. Afusat Lawal, Lawal Taofik, and Lawal Aliyu, were reportedly held captive by the perpetrators, who utilized Mr. Sarafa’s phone to demand ransom.
In a shocking twist, the police uncovered a case of self-kidnapping orchestrated by Wasiu Afolabi, who feigned abduction to extort money. Collaborating with Moshood Sulaiman, a point-of-sale operator, Afolabi concocted a ransom scheme amounting to N3 million, only to be exposed by diligent investigations led by the Kwara Command Anti-Kidnapping Squad.
Commissioner Olaiya reiterated the state police command’s unwavering commitment to combating crime and safeguarding the well-being of all residents. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to law enforcement agencies promptly.
The commissioner extended appreciation to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for his steadfast support and the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for invaluable guidance in addressing crime in Kwara State. He also acknowledged the contributions of sister security agencies, the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Kwara State Chapter, and Community Policing volunteers in fostering peace and harmony across the state.
