According to the police, the two individuals were identified as foot soldiers to a notorious kidnap kingpin known as Ikem Thankgod, alias General 2man. General 2man is reportedly responsible for numerous killings within and outside the Ahoada area of the state.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, disclosed this in a statement issued in Port Harcourt, highlighting General 2man’s involvement in various criminal activities, including kidnapping and multiple murders.
The operation targeted General 2man’s hideout, where his gang opened fire on the police tactical team. Although General 2man managed to escape, two of his associates were killed during the exchange of gunfire.
The statement emphasized General 2man’s involvement in grave crimes, such as murder, kidnapping, armed robbery, and vandalism of public property. The police recovered weapons and ammunition from the scene and are actively pursuing General 2man and other fleeing gang members.
The Commissioner of Police, Olatunji Dish, commended the tactical team for their efforts and reiterated the police force’s commitment to combating crime in the state. Efforts are underway to bring General 2man and his accomplices to justice and end their reign of terror.
