‘I Can’t Date Younger Men’ – 62-Year-Old Mo Abudu Reveals Her Relationship Preference.
Nigerian filmmaker and media entrepreneur Mo Abudu has explained why she prefers dating men who are around her age or older, ruling out younger men as her ideal romantic partners.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
News reports that the 62-year-old media mogul shared her views during an interview with media personality Toke Makinwa.
During the conversation, Abudu spoke about heartbreak, dismissing the suggestion that a romantic relationship could easily leave her emotionally devastated at this stage of her life.
According to the filmmaker, any tears she sheds these days are more likely to be connected to her work than to issues involving a man.
She acknowledged that heartbreak might have affected her differently when she was younger but maintained that her priorities had changed over the years.
“I even cried recently. Heartbreak. Heartbreak. Nobody can break my heart. It’s not possible. Heartbreak. There’s no such thing as heartbreak at my age,” she said.
Abudu added that a man would not be the reason behind her tears, explaining that her professional responsibilities could sometimes become overwhelming.
When asked whether she would agree to go on a date with a man who approached her, the media entrepreneur said her decision would depend on whether he met her standards and expectations.
She explained that, at 62, she had established clear personal goals and would only consider a relationship that aligned with them.
“Right, I’m 62 years old, right, and I have set certain standards and goals for myself. So if you can meet my standards and my expectations, maybe you can take me out, maybe you can’t,” she stated.
The filmmaker also highlighted her financial independence as a major factor influencing her approach to relationships.
Abudu explained that she had reached a stage in her life where she could comfortably provide for herself and her family without depending on a romantic partner for financial support.
She stressed that she did not want a relationship that would introduce additional burdens into her life, noting that any potential partner must contribute positively to her well-being.
“The point is that I’m at a point in my life whereby I don’t need you to provide for me, right? I can pretty much provide for myself. I can provide for my family, which I do,” she said.
The media entrepreneur further emphasised that she was unwilling to take on a partner who would become a burden rather than a source of mutual support.
“The thing is that I don’t want anyone in my life that’s going to be a burden on me,” Abudu added.
She subsequently disclosed that she was more comfortable dating men within her age range or those who were slightly older.
Abudu attributed this preference partly to her traditional outlook on relationships, explaining that a man’s achievements and maturity were important considerations for her.
“I would rather date someone my age or someone slightly older,” she stated.
She further maintained that a prospective partner needed to have accomplished something significant in life to earn her respect.
“And therefore, in order for me to respect you, you must have achieved something. You must have. Because if you haven’t achieved it at 60, when do you want to achieve it?” she asked.

‘Pete Edochie Has Pride In His Blood, Cannot Pay Homage To Elders That Made Him’ – Actor Kola Olaiya
Veteran Nollywood actor Kola Olaiya has accused his colleague, Pete Edochie, of being overly proud and failing to acknowledge the contributions of senior theatre practitioners who helped lay the foundation for the Nigerian entertainment industry.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Olaiya made the allegation during an interview with Oyinmomo TV, where he argued that Edochie should recognise the achievements of veteran entertainers who had established themselves in the profession long before the celebrated actor began his career.
He specifically mentioned the late theatre icon Hubert Ogunde, whose contributions to Nigerian theatre and filmmaking predated Edochie’s entry into the industry.
According to Olaiya, Ogunde ventured into theatre in 1944 after leaving the police force and had already produced films and recorded popular songs before Edochie was born.
The veteran actor argued that although Edochie might consider himself without a senior within his own ethnic group in the South-East, such a claim could not reasonably apply to the entire Nigerian entertainment industry.
Speaking during the interview, Olaiya said he had known Edochie for a long time and believed pride was responsible for his alleged reluctance to acknowledge the elders who contributed to his rise.
“I have known him for long that pride is in his blood. That is why he cannot pay homage to the elders that made him.
“Ogunde had been acting before Pete was born. After that, some people like Oyin Adejobi, Duro Ladipo, Kola Ogunmola, were joining. Where was Pete Edochie then?
“If Pete says in his own tribe, he doesn’t have a boss, I wouldn’t know, but here in the whole Nigeria, no,” Olaiya stated.
The actor also reflected on his professional relationship with Ogunde, describing the late theatre pioneer as a father figure and mentor who played a significant role in shaping his personal life and acting career.
Olaiya’s comments have drawn attention to the contributions of early Nigerian theatre practitioners and the importance of recognising the pioneers whose work helped shape the country’s modern entertainment industry.
