With hearts heavy and spirits somber, residents have come together in a desperate plea for assistance from security agencies to aid in the search for their missing community member.

Miss Faith Omodon was last seen on March 30, 2024, when she left home for what should have been a routine trip to the farm. However, as hours turned into days and there was no sign of her return, concern quickly escalated to panic among her loved ones and neighbors.

Her father, Mr. Edward Omodon, recounted the harrowing moment when the news of his daughter’s disappearance shattered the tranquility of their national conference. Amidst the gathering, cries of anguish pierced the air as it became apparent that Faith was nowhere to be found.

The vigilante group of the village, led by Mr. Ikpoba Johnbull, sprang into action immediately upon receiving news of Faith’s disappearance. Despite their exhaustive efforts, including combing through neighboring villages and spending sleepless nights scouring the dense foliage of the surrounding area, Faith remained elusive.

With heavy hearts and dwindling hope, the community turned to the authorities for assistance. The case was reported to the Abudu Police Division, and subsequently, transferred to the State Police Command for further investigation.

As the search intensifies and the community grapples with the anguish of uncertainty, the plea for assistance echoes far beyond the borders of Iru Egbede. Each passing day without answers deepens the sense of dread, underscoring the urgent need for swift action to bring Faith home safely.

In the face of adversity, the strength of community solidarity shines brightly, illuminating the path forward as residents cling to hope and pray for Faith’s safe return.

  • Prior to his confirmation, a coalition of civil society organizations protested at the National Assembly on July 7, 2026, opposing Fasina’s nomination due to pending court cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, human rights violations, and victimization.

  • Despite these protests, the Nigerian Senate officially confirmed Fasina’s appointment as a non-career ambassador on Thursday.

Frank Tietie’s Position

  • During an interview on ARISE Television, Tietie argued that nominating an individual with such “baggage” was a mistake, emphasizing that ambassadors represent Nigeria in the same capacity as the President.

  • Tietie stated that the government should have sent the “right signals” by avoiding such controversial appointments, especially given the current state of governance.

  • He argued that even in the absence of a final court judgment, the allegations themselves have “tainted” Fasina’s reputation, and the Senate should have delayed the confirmation until the legal matters were resolved.

  • Tietie also suggested that the National Assembly’s decision overlooks significant social changes regarding how such allegations are now viewed by society.
