Formerly associated with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, Anyim’s loyalists have announced their decision to join the APC, marking a significant shift in the state’s political landscape.

Among the prominent defectors are former two-term House of Representatives member Hon. Livunus Makwe, former two-term House of Assembly member Hon. Oliver Osi, and Aja Nwabueze, the deputy governorship candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections.

In a grand ceremony, these leaders and members of other political parties, including the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and the National Rescue Movement (NRM), were warmly received by APC state chairman, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha, and Ivo LGA chairman, Chief Emmanuel Ajah.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Hon. Livunus Makwe emphasized their commitment to contributing positively to the APC and cited the abandonment of zoning by the PDP during the 2023 general elections as a key factor influencing their decision.

The APC leaders assured the new entrants of equal opportunities within the party and emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration to achieve common goals.

In his address, Chief Stanley Okoro Emegha urged existing party members not to perceive the defectors as adversaries but as allies working towards the common good. He emphasized the need for unity and assured that the party would remain inclusive and fair to all members.

As the political landscape continues to evolve in Ebonyi State, this move signifies a significant realignment of political forces and sets the stage for a dynamic and competitive political environment in the region.

Ambassadorial Nomination Under Fire: Frank Tie Tie Exposes ‘Mistake’ Regarding Ex-FUOYE VC Fasina!.

Human rights lawyer Frank Tietie has criticized the nomination and subsequent confirmation of Professor Abayomi Fasina, the former Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, as a non-career ambassador designate.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

  • Prior to his confirmation, a coalition of civil society organizations protested at the National Assembly on July 7, 2026, opposing Fasina’s nomination due to pending court cases involving allegations of sexual harassment, human rights violations, and victimization.

  • Despite these protests, the Nigerian Senate officially confirmed Fasina’s appointment as a non-career ambassador on Thursday.

Frank Tietie’s Position

  • During an interview on ARISE Television, Tietie argued that nominating an individual with such “baggage” was a mistake, emphasizing that ambassadors represent Nigeria in the same capacity as the President.

  • Tietie stated that the government should have sent the “right signals” by avoiding such controversial appointments, especially given the current state of governance.

  • He argued that even in the absence of a final court judgment, the allegations themselves have “tainted” Fasina’s reputation, and the Senate should have delayed the confirmation until the legal matters were resolved.

  • Tietie also suggested that the National Assembly’s decision overlooks significant social changes regarding how such allegations are now viewed by society.
