Expressing concerns over the potential for further loss of life and escalating tensions in the oil-rich region, the community leaders advocated for the return of confiscated arms and ammunition by the assailants and urged the establishment of an independent commission to investigate the events in Okuama thoroughly.

The call extends beyond Okuama, with suggestions to reduce military deployments in other communities across Delta and Bayelsa states, emphasizing the need for a peaceful and measured approach to conflict resolution in the Niger Delta.

Retired Air Force officer, Wing Commander P.Y. Biakpara, emphasized the misuse of the military and urged caution to prevent further civilian casualties.

The traditional ruler of Kabowei Kingdom, HRM (Barr) Shadrach Peremobowei Erebulu, Aduo III, appealed to both the youths involved in the incident and the military to exercise restraint and called on the Federal Government to set up a commission of inquiry to bring justice to the affected communities.

Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Bomadi, Most Rev. Hyacinth Oroko Egbebo, highlighted the underlying issues of lack of development in the region, emphasizing the need for proactive measures to address grievances and ensure equitable development.
