The Ondo State Security Network Agency, popularly known as Amotekun, has thwarted a seven-man gang’s bid to rob three banks in Irele Local Government Area of the state.

Adeleye, while parading 36 other suspected criminals for various offenses, stated that the armed robbery gang, consisting of seven members, originated from Sapele, Delta State, with intentions of conducting both kidnapping and robbery activities in the bank.
He added that six of the armed robbers are still at large, but Amotekun operatives successfully apprehended the ringleader who provided shelter to the robbers.
“We also unraveled their plan to kidnap a prominent figure, which initially appeared as a robbery operation to Amotekun officers, but it was a combined operation,” he said.
Efforts are ongoing to track down the leader who fled to Delta State, with Amotekun collaborating with relevant government and security agencies for assistance.
“The intelligence we gathered indicates their plans to rob three banks and abduct the Managing Director of a supermarket. Investigations revealed they colluded with a staff member of the supermarket who refused to participate,” Adeleye explained.
He also noted that among the suspects were individuals specialized in vandalizing crucial government infrastructure.
“They utilized a trailer to transport pipes designated for a World Bank-funded water project and successfully unloaded them. However, our operatives intercepted and apprehended them at an alternative location,” Adeleye added.
He urged residents to continue supporting the security network by providing timely and actionable information, reaffirming their commitment to safeguarding lives and property in partnership with other security agencies in the state.
