The arrest came following the interception of the dispatch rider on Sunday, March 10, 2024, in the Opolo area of Yenagoa, where he was found in possession of 200 grams of cannabis-laced chin-chin intended for delivery to a buyer.

Subsequent investigations led to the apprehension of Odunu, who was identified as a major distributor of the drugged chin-chin from the salon where she works in the Kpansia area of Yenagoa. A search of the salon yielded an additional 3 kilograms of the illicit substance, bringing the total seized from the duo to 3.2 kilograms.

According to NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, investigations revealed that the suspects distributed the drug-laced snacks to students and at birthday parties. Edesemi handled the delivery, while Josephine served as a major distributor to a wanted suspect involved in the production of the drugged chin-chin.

In related developments, NDLEA operatives in Adamawa State arrested two wanted suspects, Ajim Samuel and Davidson John Joshua, who were intercepted on their way from Onitsha, Anambra State, with a consignment of tramadol containing 14,428 pills concealed in their vehicle. Additionally, significant seizures of opioids and cannabis were made in Osun, Bauchi, Ogun, Kano, Nasarawa, and Edo states, with a total of 24 kilograms of cannabis recovered from a warehouse in Nasarawa state.

Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd), Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, commended the officers and men of the Agency for their exceptional performance in the past week, praising their efforts in intensifying advocacy lectures aimed at reducing drug supply and demand across the country.
