Police and Vigilantes Rescue Four Abducted Victims in Anambra
In a separate incident, a joint operation involving the Nigerian Police and a vigilante group led to the rescue of four individuals who had been abducted in Anambra State. The rescue operation took place along Amagu Awgbu Road in Orumba North Local Government Area, where a shootout ensued between the suspects and security operatives.
Anambra police spokesperson Ikenga Tochukwu disclosed that despite the gang’s attempt to evade capture, they were ultimately subdued by the combined efforts of the police and vigilantes. The confrontation resulted in the recovery of one pump-action gun and the disabling of two out of the three vehicles used by the gang.
Fortunately, all four abducted victims were rescued unharmed, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding their abduction. Preliminary findings suggest that the number plates on one of the recovered vehicles were falsely registered.
The successful operations in Adamawa and Anambra underscore the importance of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies and local communities in combating crime and ensuring the safety of citizens.
