Expressing his concerns during a meeting with the Controller General of the Nigerian Customs Service, Alhaji Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, Governor Yusuf highlighted the severe hunger and starvation plaguing the nation. He stressed that reopening the borders for unrestricted importation of food items is imperative to ensure food availability and affordability for the large population.
Acknowledging the challenges faced by the people, especially during the holy month of Ramadan, Governor Yusuf emphasized the importance of prompt measures to alleviate their suffering. He commended the President’s intervention on the national food initiative and urged for its effective implementation in Kano State.
Furthermore, Governor Yusuf expressed satisfaction with the Customs’ efforts to distribute food items in Kano, emphasizing the need for these relief measures to reach those most affected. He assured the Customs Service of his unwavering support in initiatives aimed at bringing positive results for Kano and Nigeria as a whole.
In response, CG Adeniyi highlighted the significance of fostering stronger ties between the Nigeria Customs Service and the Kano community. He pledged to implement strategies aimed at improving operational procedures and fostering collaboration with stakeholders.
