The victims, identified as the Elesun of Esun Ekiti, Oba David Ogunsakin, and the Olumojo of Imojo Ekiti, Oba Samuel Olusola, were reportedly ambushed and murdered by gunmen while traveling along Oke Ako-Irele Road on January 29. Fortunately, their companion, the Alara of Ara (Ikole), Oba Sunday Fatoba, managed to escape the attack.
During the arraignment on Tuesday, the police prosecutor, Yomi Osuolale, asserted that there is probable cause to remand the defendant at the Correctional Centre in Ado Ekiti. Osuolale detailed the charges against Lede, including conspiracy to kidnap, attempted murder, and murder, emphasizing the severity of the offenses.
The defendant was reportedly apprehended in Ikole Ekiti on the same day as the incident, with weapons in his possession. The case file has been forwarded to the Ekiti State Director of Public Prosecution for legal advice.
In light of the circumstances, Magistrate Olubunmi Bamidele ordered the remand of the defendant at the Ado Ekiti Correctional Custody pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution. The case has been adjourned until April 24 for further proceedings.

A Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos, has sentenced Sunmonu Olasunkanmi Thaoban to four years in prison for laundering ₦16 million by disguising its illegal origins and converting it into a 2018 black G-Wagon Jeep.

Guilty Plea & Sentencing: Justice Akintayo Aluko handed down the sentence on Thursday after Thaoban pleaded guilty to a two-count EFCC charge, alongside an alternative fine option of ₦1.8 million.

The Offense: Prosecutors stated that Thaoban acted as a middleman in 2023, funneling illicit funds to purchase the luxury vehicle, violating the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.

Asset Forfeiture: In addition to the prison term, the judge ordered the permanent forfeiture of both the convict’s G-Wagon and mobile phone to the Federal Government.
