The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Cross River State, Istifanus Ibrahim, has affirmed that the agency will impound vehicles, even if they possess complete and up-to-date licenses and other necessary traffic documents, if their owners violate traffic laws……..CONTINUE READING

In an interview, Ibrahim emphasized that there is no provision in the law exempting individuals from traffic regulations based on their status, stressing that everyone is subject to traffic rules.

He urged motorists to familiarize themselves with traffic regulations in their respective states and adhere to them.

Ibrahim highlighted that many motorists often believe they can evade traffic regulations due to having valid papers or influential connections, but emphasized that compliance with traffic rules is paramount.

“The focus is not solely on possessing intact papers but on obeying traffic regulations. We enforce traffic rules, not just vehicle papers,” Ibrahim stated.

He acknowledged that one of the significant challenges faced in Cross River State is motorists disregarding traffic rules despite having valid papers. He clarified that the FRSC does not fabricate offenses but upholds existing traffic regulations.

Ibrahim reiterated that if a driver commits a traffic offense, such as using a phone while driving, even with valid papers, their vehicle will be booked and possibly impounded.

He emphasized that compliance with traffic rules enhances the FRSC’s ability to provide better services, emphasizing that vehicle papers are collected as collateral to ensure the offender’s return.
