Onuachu expressed his belief in the team’s current form and depth. “We have the quality to play against any team in the world and hopefully we are going to show it against Poland and Portugal,” he told the Super Eagles media. While acknowledging the disappointment of missing the World Cup despite their world-class talent, he remains focused on the task ahead.

In squad news, FC Basel winger Philip Otele has joined the team in Warsaw, bringing the roster to 21 players. Otele, who was instrumental in the recent Unity Cup victory over Jamaica, is expected to begin the match on the bench due to his late arrival.

Captain Wilfred Ndidi emphasized that while the coaching staff is focused on long-term development, maintaining the team’s current unbeaten streak—four wins and a draw in their last five games—remains vital. “Of course, it’s about winning, but development also counts. A match against such a top rival as Poland will be a good test for our vision for the future,” Ndidi remarked, as quoted by przegladsportowy.onet.

The match at the PGE Narodowy Stadium is set to kick off at 7:45 p.m. Nigerian time.
