The group called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene and address what they see as a pattern of biased appointments within the Ministry of Health. They alleged that despite the presence of highly qualified individuals from the southeast, Minister Pate intentionally overlooked them in his recent selections for various positions.

Expressing their disappointment, Obiogbolu stated, “While we, as youths, continue to hold onto hope for fair treatment and inclusivity in Nigeria, some actions only serve to diminish that hope.” The group highlighted their frustration with what they perceive as discriminatory practices in the appointment process.

According to the statement, Minister Pate’s decisions seemed to disregard merit and professionalism, focusing instead on excluding individuals from the Igbo ethnic group. The group emphasized that the exclusion of qualified candidates based on ethnic background is unacceptable and undermines the principles of fairness and inclusivity.

The Southeast Dynamic Youths Movement issued a two-week ultimatum for Minister Pate to reconsider his approach to appointments or face the consequences of their protest actions. They emphasized their commitment to advocating for equitable representation and opportunities for all citizens, regardless of ethnic origin, within government institutions.
