The protest, orchestrated by the state chapter of the NLC, witnessed a significant turnout of workers who commenced their march from the NLC state secretariat in Agodi, Ibadan.
The procession traversed through various significant points in the city, including Gate, NTA, and Yemetu roundabout, where Governor Makinde rendezvoused with the demonstrators.
Addressing the assembled crowd, Governor Makinde offered words of assurance, reiterating the government’s acute awareness of the hardships faced by citizens and its active endeavors to mitigate their suffering.
He emphasized that the prevailing economic challenges are transient and affirmed that concerted efforts are underway to expedite the process of recovery.
Governor Makinde stated, “I am cognizant of the hardships experienced by the people and the challenges they are grappling with, but I am committed to being part of the generation that will rectify the situation.”
He further assured the workers that their grievances and protest letters would be duly conveyed to President Bola Tinubu.
