Earlier indications suggested that Qatar had declined the proposed investment forum, citing the unavailability of its Minister of Commerce and Industry, Mohammed Bin Hamad Al-Thani. A leaked memo revealed Qatar’s stance, emphasizing the absence of a formal agreement between Qatar and Nigeria regarding the forum during President Tinubu’s scheduled visit on March 2, 2024.
However, amidst the uncertainty, both the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the presidency have affirmed that President Tinubu’s trip to Qatar remains unaffected.
In a statement released on Saturday, presidential media aide Bayo Onanuga clarified that the state visit would proceed as initially planned, following the invitation extended by the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani.
