Adebanjo contends that the current legal framework governing the nation is fundamentally flawed, emphasizing that true peace can only be achieved through a restructuring of the constitution to embrace genuine federalism.
According to him, addressing issues such as economic hardship, protests, insecurity, and currency devaluation necessitates a constitutional shift back to federalism.
In an interview with TheCable on Saturday, Adebanjo advocated for a complete overhaul of the 1999 constitution, advocating for the emergence of a fresh constitutional framework.
He asserted, “The issues of insecurity and economic downturn stem from the defective constitution we are operating under. Progress is unattainable until this constitution undergoes a thorough transformation. We need a surgical intervention on this constitution.”
Adebanjo highlighted the futility of amending a constitution crafted under dubious circumstances, stressing the need to return to the federalist principles enshrined in the 1963 constitution.
His remarks come at a time when the National Assembly is gearing up to review the 1999 constitution, with 40 amendment bills already submitted. The constitution review committee is set to commence its activities on Monday, February 26.
As the debate on constitutional reform unfolds, Adebanjo’s stance underscores the imperative for a comprehensive restructuring to address Nigeria’s pressing challenges effectively.

Explaining that her emotional rants often overshadowed the original offense and made her look like the wrongdoer, she announced the end of her old style of responding and stated that Carter Efe and Davrel had already been served via email and WhatsApp.
