Betty Akeredolu, the widow of the former Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu, has revealed the key to the endurance of their marriage, which lasted for more than four decades……CONTINUE READING

In a heartfelt reflection on her husband’s life, the former First Lady of Ondo shared that effective communication was instrumental in maintaining their bond despite their differing beliefs, particularly regarding matters of faith.

Betty Akeredolu noted that while her late husband was deeply devoted to his religious beliefs, openly displaying his faith, she held a more reserved stance on matters of spirituality.

This contrast in their religious views could have led to conflict, but she explained that their ability to communicate openly and respectfully allowed them to overcome such differences and nurture their relationship.

The former First Lady openly admitted that her divergence in religious beliefs sometimes caused tension with her husband. Nonetheless, she expressed no remorse, emphasizing that through dialogue and understanding, they were able to navigate these challenges successfully.

She remarked, “You accepted my views on religion and appreciated my pragmatic approach. Together, we created a harmonious home by honoring each other’s quirks, supporting our respective careers, and nurturing our love for one another. Your courage and fearlessness have become legendary.

“As a partner, you were kind and playful, although your jokes could be exasperating at times. Yet, over the years, I grew accustomed to them, realizing that attempting to change your humor was futile.

“In our early years together, when we had little, you ensured we lacked nothing. You provided for me and our children. Over time, you evolved into the finest husband, father, and grandfather one could wish for.

“We were soulmates. If there were such a thing as another life, I would choose to marry you again
