Speaking at the party’s second National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Wednesday, Obi urged all contenders to unite and work towards the party’s success in the upcoming general elections. He emphasized that while not everyone can win, a unified front is essential for the party’s future.

Obi commended the rapid progress of the NDC, noting its achievement in conducting congresses, conventions, and primaries within a remarkably short period of about 90 days. He appealed for patience and sacrifice from all members, highlighting the importance of the party’s collective goals over individual outcomes.

With the primary process concluded, Obi stated that the focus must shift from internal competitions to building the NDC as a viable political alternative for 2027. He promised a different approach to leadership, characterized by inclusivity, compassion, and accountability.

To further strengthen the party, Obi announced plans for a nationwide engagement tour, moving away from centralized Abuja meetings to connect directly with Nigerians at the grassroots level. This initiative aims to deepen political education and build policies that directly address the needs of the populace. He also acknowledged the significant challenges facing the nation, including insecurity and poor infrastructure, promising a detailed campaign message in due course.

NDC National Chairman Moses Cleopas echoed Obi’s sentiments regarding the party’s rapid growth, which he described as extraordinary. He attributed this success to collective effort and divine guidance, likening the NDC to a vehicle for national rescue and renewal.

The crucial election will determine whether his uncle, incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke, returns for a second term, this time contesting under the Accord Party banner.

Taking to Instagram, Davido shared a video clip of former INEC resident electoral commissioner Nnenna Otti discussing election fraud and its impact on results. In an accompanying message, the singer issued a stern warning against any form of vote manipulation. He affirmed his intention to be physically present during the election to support his uncle and safeguard the electoral process.

“On August 15, anybody who tries to rig will face the consequences in the highest order. I will be in the field to defend our votes… @aadeleke_01, I’ve got your back, sir!” he wrote.

This announcement is the latest demonstration of Davido’s intense interest in Osun politics. He has previously accused political rivals, including Gboyega Oyetola, of desperation. Furthermore, following his alignment with the Accord Party, Davido was appointed head of youth mobilization for the campaign council.

Abdulmumin Jibrin, a House of Representatives member from Kano State, has stated that President Bola Tinubu is deeply distressed by the frequent abductions of schoolchildren across Nigeria. Jibrin declared: “The school children that were kidnapped, it’s actually a difficult thing to talk about; my sympathy goes to the families of those kidnapped kids and those who lost their lives in the hands of kidnappers and bandits. What I can assure you is that the president and his government are doing everything possible to see that the security situation is tackled.“

He emphasized that government attention is tightly focused on securing the victims’ release. Having just returned from the Villa, Jibrin noted, “everybody is moody, and the matter is all about those kidnapped and their families.” Jibrin assured the public that Tinubu is tirelessly working to address insecurity and ensure the safe return of the abducted children, adding that “the last person that can be able to sleep that I know very well is the president.“

Jibrin concluded by reiterating the government’s commitment to immediate resolution, saying, “the government is doing everything possible to ensure those who have been kidnapped are returned to their families.“
