Following a 0-0 draw after 120 minutes, South Africa emerged victorious with a 6-5 win in the penalty shootout, clinching the bronze medal.

Desabre, addressing the press after the match in Abidjan, attributed Congo’s inability to secure victory to their failure to convert chances into goals against Bafana Bafana.

“While we aimed to end the tournament on a high note, our inability to capitalize on scoring opportunities ultimately determined the outcome,” remarked Desabre.

Despite the disappointment of finishing fourth instead of third, Desabre acknowledged the commendable effort and dedication exhibited by his players throughout the AFCON competition.

“My observation from today’s match is that even in moments of fatigue, the players demonstrated unwavering commitment and gave their all,” he concluded.
