In a recent interview with The Beat 99.9 FM, Lagos, the ‘Dem Mama’ singer described his journey as a “challenging fight.”
He stated, “I’m not perfect. I’ve struggled with drugs. Overcoming drug addiction was a tremendous challenge.
“I was introduced to drugs during the COVID-19 lockdown in 2020. Everyone was confined to their homes, and there were these young guys in my house who always seemed cheerful. I asked them, ‘How are you guys so much happier than me? I’m the boss, I have money. What’s your secret?’ And they told me about molly.
“When I tried it, I felt like a different person. I was ecstatic and spent all the money I had in my pocket. I just wanted to keep experiencing that feeling. That’s how I ended up losing a lot of weight. I wasn’t eating; I was just seeking happiness. How can you depend on external sources for happiness? Happiness should come naturally. But when you start relying on substances for happiness, it replaces your natural joy, and you have to purchase happiness.
“At the height of my addiction, I was taking about three pills of molly every day, and it felt like medication.”
