Liman, representing the All Progressives Congress (APC), clinched victory with 18,068 votes, defeating Solomon Katuka of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who garnered 17,404 votes in the re-run election.

On Wednesday, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kaduna presented Certificates of Return to Liman and other winners of the recent re-run and by-elections in the state.

Among those who received certificates were Haruna Barnabas (APC, Chawai State Constituency), Jesse Tanko (APC, Chikun State Constituency), and Nura Likoro (PDP, Kudan State Constituency).

Subsequently, during a plenary session, Liman was nominated and unanimously re-elected as the Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

Expressing gratitude to his colleagues for their trust and support, Liman pledged to collaborate with the executive arm of government to foster democracy and drive development in the state.

He emphasized the profound responsibility entrusted to them by the people of Kaduna and called for a dedication to democracy, justice, and progress.

Liman, previously representing the Makera constituency, regained his position as Speaker after his earlier election was nullified by the Abuja appeal court in November 2023, prompting a mandated rerun in five polling units within the constituency.

Ajayi emphasized the complexity of the operation, noting that the presence of a two-and-a-half-year-old child among the hostages required meticulous planning to ensure the captives’ safety. He also addressed misinformation circulating online during the rescue, clarifying that certain viral videos purporting to show the torture of children were unrelated deepfakes from another country.

Furthermore, the DSS Director-General linked the kidnapping network to an international terrorist organization connected to Al-Qaeda.
