The incident occurred around 11 am on Wednesday, January 24, when Akano, accompanied by suspected thugs, reportedly vandalized Soetan’s apartment. According to Soetan, one of the individuals used a sledgehammer to demolish the door and windows, gaining access to the apartment. The sudden demolition adversely affected his wife, who experienced shock and high blood pressure, prompting her hospitalization.

Soetan explained that he had left home in the morning, and upon receiving a call from his wife about the situation, he returned to find the apartment in disarray. He expressed concern for his wife’s health, especially given her recent miscarriage and ongoing recovery.

In recounting the incident, Soetan stated, “I had left home in the morning when my wife called to tell me that the landlady came with some people to vandalise my flat, which is on the ground floor of the building. And by the time I got home, they had vandalised my door, including my bedroom and kitchen windows. My wife lost her pregnancy two months ago and she has been recovering from the loss, but the shock of the demolition was too much for her. She developed high blood pressure and is now in the hospital.”

Soetan revealed that the landlady had not accepted the house rent he offered to pay, which was due in May, and she did not communicate with him before the demolition.

He also disputed Akano’s claim that the individuals involved in the destruction were Lagos State Government officials. Soetan discovered that they were not government officials upon investigation. Efforts to contact Akano for comment were unsuccessful, as she dropped a call and did not respond to a text message.
