The rankings, drawn from a comprehensive survey of over 20,000 city dwellers globally and insights from the magazine’s editors, considered various factors, including food quality and affordability, cultural offerings, nightlife, community vibes, access to green spaces, historic sites, and more.

In a remarkable achievement, Lagos outperformed major global cities such as Dubai, Beijing, and Miami. The only other African cities featured on the list were Cape Town, South Africa, ranking second, and Accra, Ghana, securing the 44th position.

The diverse criteria utilized by Time Out underscore Lagos’s vibrancy, diverse culinary scene, dynamic nightlife, and overall appeal. Time Out’s recognition positions Lagos as a top destination, highlighting its rich cultural experiences, entertainment options, and business opportunities.

The full list includes cities from various continents, with New York City leading the rankings, followed by Cape Town, Berlin, London, and Madrid in the top five. Lagos’s 19th-place ranking not only showcases its global appeal but also signifies its growing status as a major cultural and economic hub.

Time Out’s acknowledgment serves as a testament to Lagos’s unique and exciting offerings, making it an attractive destination for both residents and global travelers.

    • Call for Peace: The cleric warned against religious insults, advised youths to avoid drugs and violence, and encouraged peaceful participation in the electoral process.

      ‎“Nigerians have sense. They should judge candidates by what they will do and what they have done, not by religion,” he said.

      ‎The scholar maintained that politics should be about service and competence, rather than the religious identity of candidates.

      ‎Daurawa also argued that Nigeria’s democratic system is not based on religion, noting that the country’s Constitution does not recognise any political party as either Islamic or Christian.

      ‎He asked: “Is there any party registered by INEC as an Islamic party or a Christian party or has any religious manifesto?”

      ‎The cleric said Nigerians should be free to vote for candidates regardless of whether the political ticket is Muslim-Muslim, Christian-Christian, Christian-Muslim or Muslim-Christian.

      ‎He further warned Nigerians against insulting or attacking others over the religious composition of a political ticket.

      ‎Daurawa also called on young Nigerians to stay away from drug abuse, violence and weapons as the country approaches the 2027 elections.

      ‎He urged youths to participate peacefully in the electoral process and avoid actions capable of threatening peace and stability in the country.

According to Duke, rising tensions and political activities ahead of Obasanjo’s second-term bid created a major rift within the PDP, leading ten governors—including Duke—to discuss alternatives with party leadership. Obasanjo, feeling betrayed, reached out to Duke, which ultimately prompted a meeting at the Presidential Villa arranged by Atiku between Obasanjo, IBB, and former military Head of State Abdulsalami Abubakar.

While formal discussions remained diplomatic, Duke recounted that IBB later asked to return to Obasanjo’s private study under the guise of retrieving lost keys.
