In a public statement shared on Instagram, the singer explained that he chose to delay the announcement to allow time for personal reflection, clarity, and acceptance. Speaking on Wednesday, August 19, Lagos APC Chairman Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi stated that the party’s extensive grassroots structure is primed to carry the Renewed Hope message to every ward, community, and polling unit across the state’s 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas. He highlighted that the party has actively engaged diverse groups, including women’s organizations, youth networks, market associations, and traditional leaders.

Ojelabi emphasized that the party’s campaign will rely on tangible governance achievements, pointing to visible infrastructural developments such as the Lagos Blue and Red Line rail systems, major road construction, and urban renewal projects.
