Speaking when he received a delegation led by Mr Clay Neff, President of Chevron International Exploration and Production, on Tuesday in Abuja, President Tinubu said Nigeria would strengthen its long-standing partnership with the multinational company in line with the evolving dynamics in the oil and gas industry.
The President welcomed Chevron’s commitment to build on its investments in shallow and deep water operations in Nigeria, noting the company’s ongoing $1.4 billion drilling project with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL.

According to eyewitness accounts, the chaos began when security guards blocked the suspect from entering the facility. Enraged by the refusal, the man—believed by police to be destitute and under the influence of substances—produced a machete and a knife, fatally stabbing one security guard and injuring another.
The confrontation ended when bystanders and a mob descended on the attacker, resulting in his death at the scene.
Lagos State Police Command spokesperson, SP Adebisi Abimbola, confirmed the fatalities to Vanguard on Saturday and noted that an active investigation is underway. As part of the preliminary inquiries, the cinema’s Chief Security Officer has been taken into police custody. Investigators are currently reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage to map out the exact sequence of events and determine if any accomplices were involved.
Authorities have yet to release the names of the deceased or provide a medical update on the injured guard as investigations continue.

Sparked by Caleb Agada, a 7-0 scoring burst bridging the second and third quarters transformed a 43-41 deficit into a 48-43 lead with 9:08 left in the third.
The game ultimately turned into a nail-biting finish as the Bright Stars clawed back control. For Nigeria, Okogie led the scoring charge with 14 points, eight rebounds, and two assists, though his contributions weren’t enough to avert the narrow defeat.
This setback follows a previous 78-62 loss to Cameroon on Wednesday during their second-round opener, leaving D’Tigers under heavy pressure ahead of a decisive matchup against Cape Verde on Sunday.
