As outlined by Daily Trust, Senator Bassey Akpan, the gubernatorial candidate of YPP, together with the deputy gubernatorial candidate, AIG Asuquo Amba (rtd), and additional party officials, clarified that this merger is not motivated by any intention to participate in the 2027 elections.

Speaking on the matter, Pastor Nyeneime Andy, the State Chairman of YPP, mentioned that the party’s candidates in the legislative houses will formally switch to the APC after the rerun election in Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency and Ibiono Ibom State Constituency.

Senate President Akpabio, in response, recognized this political move as an acknowledgment of the president’s endeavors to rescue the nation by opposition parties.

In a separate development, a coalition of youth groups within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano, identified as the Coalition of APC Kano Youths, has called for the removal of former governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje as the National Chairman of the party.

Sadiq Ali Sango, the chairman of the coalition, made this demand during a press conference in Kano on Sunday. Sango’s plea for Ganduje’s removal is rooted in the alleged failure to secure a victory for the APC in the state during the last general election.

He argued that Ganduje’s continued role as National Chairman poses a threat to the party’s interests and future prospects in the region. Additionally, Sango emphasized that Ganduje’s appointment goes against the APC’s zoning arrangement, which designates the position of National Chairman to the North Central zone.

This breach of internal party rules, according to Sango, further underscores the justification for Ganduje’s removal. In a daring move, Sango also called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to facilitate the return of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) 2023 Presidential Candidate, Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso, to the APC

  • FCT Minister Nyesom Wike stated during a monthly media chat in Abuja that he is unpopular among civil servants.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

    • He attributed this lack of popularity to his efforts to shut down channels for the fraudulent diversion of public funds, explaining that money previously misappropriated by staff is now being redirected toward road infrastructure.

    Reasons for Friction

    • The Minister criticized the habit of approving funds for unnecessary activities, such as traveling to conferences in the United States for land administration, suggesting that staff should instead conduct research locally.

    • Wike highlighted a significant shift in budget management, noting that he reduced recurrent expenditure in favor of capital expenditure, moving from a system where recurrent spending accounted for 65 percent of the budget to one where capital projects now receive 70 percent of funding.

    • He maintained that he will not approve large sums for “frivolous” conferences, choosing instead to prioritize infrastructure projects that provide tangible benefits to the public.

    • Conclusively, Wike asserted that because he puts money into roads rather than funding these conferences—which he described as vehicles for corruption—he does not expect to be liked by the civil service workforce.
