During an interview with The Punch, PDP Deputy Publicity Secretary Abdullahi emphasized that Atiku’s proposal aimed to safeguard Nigeria’s future. Abdullahi underscored the belief that only a coalition of political parties could effectively challenge the APC administration led by President Bola Tinubu and secure positive outcomes.
Abdullahi asserted, “We believe only a merger or collaboration of all opposition political parties will yield a better result. Therefore, there is a need for other political parties to recognize that defeating the All Progressives Congress without a merger would be challenging.”
Highlighting the significance of unity, he further stated, “Other political parties must understand and align with the PDP’s call for a coalition. If they comprehend this, it would be beneficial for Nigeria’s opposition and the citizens. However, if other political parties choose an individual approach, they lack the strength that the PDP possesses.”
He concluded by expressing the difficulty of achieving the objective of reclaiming government authority and ousting the current administration without a unified effort against the challenges imposed on Nigerians by the ruling party.
