In response to the 14-day ultimatum given by organized labor for the fulfillment of their demands or face industrial action, the government, through the Commissioner for Communication, Mrs Bola Olukoju, clarified the financial commitment. She stated, “Since the removal of subsidy by the Federal Government, the administration has allocated an extra N1,392,135,000.00 each month solely for the payment of palliatives to the workers.”
Despite ranking among the third lowest recipients of federal allocations, the administration claims a strong record in timely salary payments and general worker welfare. Olukoju emphasized the government’s dedication to workers’ well-being and acknowledged the financial challenges, with a significant portion of federal and local government allocations dedicated to salary payments.
She highlighted the need for financial strategies, including loans, to address infrastructure maintenance and expansion, ensuring socio-economic growth. The government, however, expressed commitment to reviewing policies to accommodate workers’ demands gradually.
While encouraging labor unions to engage in dialogue, Olukoju announced the initiation of a new round of discussions with the Chief of Staff, Alhaji Abdulkadir Mahe. The state chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Muritala Saheed Olayinka, outlined various grievances, including non-implementation of the N35,000 wage award, refusal to domesticate the 40 percent peculiar allowance, non-implementation of pensioners’ adjustments, outstanding arrears for local government workers, and the non-implementation of health-related allowances.

The Ultimate Betrayal: Labour Party Drops Massive Bombshell And Publicly Disowns Abayomi Arabambi Over Peter Obi Credentials Suit!.
The Labour Party (LP) has officially dissociated itself from a recent lawsuit filed by Abayomi Arabambi challenging the academic credentials of Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). In a formal statement released on Monday, LP National Publicity Secretary Ken Asogwa clarified that Arabambi holds no current standing within the party, as he was among a group of 25 members suspended by the National Executive Council in March for alleged anti-party activities. The clarification comes in response to Arabambi’s legal action against the West African Examinations Council (WAEC), the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), and the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) concerning Obi’s academic records. The Labour Party maintains that because Arabambi is no longer a member, he has no authority to act on its behalf. Furthermore, Asogwa accused Arabambi of impersonation for holding himself out as an LP representative, stating that the party’s legal team is currently reviewing the situation and considering appropriate legal steps, including potential petitions to law enforcement authorities.

The NDC emphasized that it will not be silenced by intimidation and warned sponsors of the attacks that the party reserves the right to self-defense against further aggression. Furthermore, the party criticized the perceived complacency of security agencies in handling opposition-related violence in Enugu and the wider South-East, noting prior similar incidents in Imo State.
Director suggested the attacks stem from the ruling APC’s anxiety over the NDC’s growing momentum in the state. He stated that these cowardly acts will not deter the party from participating in the 2027 general elections but will instead strengthen its resolve to mobilize support. The NDC concluded by challenging security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation and bring the perpetrators and their sponsors to justice.
