The army chief, however, urged troops to maintain loyalty, discipline, and dedication to eradicating all forms of criminality in the country.
Lagbaja cautioned troops against being influenced by false information and misinformation on social media, emphasizing that the Nigerian Army upholds discipline.
He stated that any soldier or officer found violating the established rules and laws of their host community or state would not be spared.
“You should not allow dissident/criminal groups to indoctrinate you to do wrong things and make wrong decisions,” he warned.
Lagbaja also emphasized the army’s commitment to the welfare of its troops and their families, citing the inauguration of various projects at the headquarters and the Abakpa Military Cantonment.
He highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s dedication to prioritizing the welfare of officers and soldiers, including addressing challenges faced by young families and approving the payment of the backlog of severance, amounting to N18.4 billion.
He promised that the Army High Command was ready to undertake extensive renovations in barracks nationwide as part of its commitment to sound administration.
According to him, the army has introduced Group Personnel Accident Insurance to cover soldiers deployed on operations, ensuring that they receive compensation in case of accidents.
“We are doing all these to cater for your welfare and well-being. However, as the saying goes, to whom much is given; much is expected. So, my charge to you is to remain loyal to the Constitution of Nigeria and the government of the day,” he said.
