Final Return: Akeredolu’s Body Arrives-Nigeria For Burial

Akeredolu’s body was transported to the country from Germany, where he passed away, and had been reportedly placed in a morgue until the final burial arrangements were made.

The former governor, who passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, had his body arrive via a plane at approximately 3:39 p.m. yesterday. The reception party included the late governor’s wife, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, his children, and siblings, led by Prof. Wole Akeredolu, his immediate younger brother.

In attendance to receive the body were representatives from prominent states, including Lagos State Governor Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Tayo Ayinde; Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbi Talabi; and a representative of Osun State Governor, Senator Demola Adeleke.
