The letter, signed by Alonge Adewale on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, conveys dissatisfaction with individuals in former caretaker positions who continue to assert themselves despite a court’s suspension.
In light of the legal uncertainties surrounding the matter, HOLGAs are instructed to take on acting roles immediately. The directive emphasizes the need to address the issue of some erstwhile caretaker committee members persisting in their roles, despite the court’s suspension.
HOLGAs are further tasked with recovering all assets and properties from the LGAs/LCDAs held by former caretaker chairmen, vice chairmen, and other members for safekeeping.
Meanwhile, a dispute has arisen within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) concerning the suspension of its Ondo State Chairman, Fatai Adams.
The State Working Committee announced Adams’ suspension over alleged anti-party activities. However, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP promptly countered the suspension, deeming it illegal and ineffective.
PDP spokesman Debo Ologunagba, late Tuesday, asserted that the action contravened the party’s constitution and established rules.

Nigeria Not Corrupt As world Thinks, Very Safe Too – Omokri.
Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Mexico, Reno Omokri, has asserted that the nation’s global reputation for corruption is inaccurate and fails to account for local cultural context. Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Omokri argued that while the country’s corruption perception index has improved under President Bola Tinubu, international organizations continue to misjudge Nigeria by imposing foreign standards on domestic traditions.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
As an example, Omokri cited the long-standing cultural practice of showing appreciation to public officials who perform their duties effectively. He contended that while entities like Transparency International classify such gestures as bribery, these actions are not inherently corrupt within the Nigerian cultural framework.
Omokri further emphasized that Nigeria must take control of its own narrative, arguing that relying on external organizations to define the country perpetuates negative stereotypes of poverty and backwardness. In addition to his remarks on governance, he highlighted Lagos State’s significant economic progress under Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, noting an increase in GDP from under $100 billion to approximately $259 billion in purchasing power parity terms over the last six years, alongside rising income levels.
Addressing security concerns, Omokri dismissed claims that Nigeria is unsafe, pointing to the annual Detty December events in Lagos. He stated that the festivities draw 1.2 million tourists—making it Africa’s largest tourism event—without a single fatality or injury recorded.

Major noted that the current absence of a flagbearer stems from the party’s ongoing consultations and negotiations with other political entities, adding that the leadership will convene shortly to determine its definitive strategic direction. Addressing the coalition directly, Major stated that the NNPP is not affiliated with the G-100, viewing the initiative as an experiment to monitor from a distance.
