Divine Judgment: Is A “Quarter-Dedication” From Politicians Enough To Satisfy God?.

Published

on

Many Nigerians are quick to prioritize partisan politics over their commitment to God, yet former Minister of Communications, Abdur-Raheem Adebayo Shittu, has suggested that the latter is far more rewarding. Upon resigning from partisan politics, Shittu remarked that if one were to invest even a quarter of the effort typically spent on political pursuits into the work of God, they would certainly receive better compensation.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

While Shittu’s realization followed political setbacks, his shift toward rededicating himself to his faith resonates with the biblical principle of seeking God’s kingdom first. This perspective encourages Christians to match the tenacity and fervor often displayed by political enthusiasts—whose dedication can sometimes verge on a “do-or-die” affair—with an equal or greater enthusiasm for serving the Lord.

The Requirement for Wholehearted Devotion Although Shittu suggested that a “quarter of the effort” might suffice, the article argues that God desires wholehearted devotion rather than half-measures. Aligning with Jesus’ teaching that one cannot serve two masters, the author contends that true kingdom service requires the same level of commitment that political supporters show their candidates—setting aside distractions to pursue God’s will. To achieve this, believers are encouraged to:

  • Become active members of a local church to find avenues for service, noting that the early disciples were empowered by the Holy Spirit when they gathered together.

  • Apply all their might to the tasks they undertake in the house of God, in accordance with the charge in Ecclesiastes 9:10.

Balancing Faith and Professional Excellence A common concern is whether intense commitment to God hinders one’s career, but the article asserts that these pursuits are complementary. Using the example of Daniel, who excelled professionally despite his overt commitment to Yahweh, the author demonstrates that faithful service can lead to high-level performance and distinction. Furthermore, scripture indicates that blessings from kingdom service often extend to an individual’s workplace, as seen in the lives of Jacob and Joseph, whose employers prospered because of their presence. Ultimately, the article concludes that the Lord Almighty is a reliable rewarder of those who serve Him, providing not only what is asked but everything a faithful servant needs.
