Upon spotting the Governor’s convoy, many riders abandoned their motorcycles and passengers. Notably, a lance corporal in the Army, identified as one of the offenders, was arrested along with his bike.

During the arrest, the soldier insisted on his status, claiming to be an officer. Governor Sanwo-Olu responded by asserting that being an officer was all the more reason for his arrest.

In a separate context, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mudashiru Obasa, recently expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu for his unwavering support to the state lawmakers in carrying out their responsibilities.

The Speaker commended Sanwo-Olu for not resorting to measures such as sealing off the Assembly complex or removing the roofs of Assembly buildings, unlike some other governors.

Obasa conveyed these sentiments during Governor Sanwo-Olu’s visit to the state lawmakers at their budget retreat in Abuja, describing the Governor as a leader, brother, and dedicated performer while acknowledging his continuous support for the legislators.

The Kwankwasiyya Movement has demanded answers from the Kano State Government regarding the reported suspension and relocation of a federal constituency road project located within the Ungogo/Minjibir Federal Constituency.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

In a statement issued on Tuesday by its spokesperson, Dr. Habib Mai Lemo, the movement emphasized that local residents should not be deprived of vital development projects due to political differences.

Key points from the statement include:

  • Suspended Infrastructure: The movement questioned why the Kano State Ministry of Works appears to target and heavily scrutinize projects facilitated by opposition lawmakers, challenging the state to prove that uniform standards are being applied to all constituency projects regardless of political affiliation.

  • Targeted Council Suspensions: Kwankwasiyya also raised alarms over the suspension of three councillors in the Kano Municipal Local Government Area—who have disputed project-related claims against them—as well as two councillors from Tarauni Local Government Area.

  • Political Intimidation: The movement alleged that the council suspensions are politically motivated penalties designed to punish local officials for refusing to defect to the ruling camp, warning that such actions threaten fundamental democratic principles.
