Just In: Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim Pays Condolence Visit To Late Ghali Na’abba’s Family
Former presidential candidate Gbenga Olawepo-Hashim, accompanied by the Atiku youth wing team lead, Idris Ibrahim Kalgo, and Kamaluddeen Adebayo, has paid a condolence visit to the family of the late former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Ghali Na’abba. During the visit, Olawepo-Hashim expressed his condolences, acknowledging Na’abba as a remarkable lawmaker and statesman who fought vigorously for legislative independence and embodied principled politics. He extended his sympathy to the government and people of Kano state, as well as the bereaved family, political associates, and friends.
Olawepo-Hashim praised Na’abba’s contributions as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, highlighting his efforts in advancing constitutionalism, fundamental rights, freedoms, and democracy. He described Na’abba as intellectually engaging, progressive, focused, and fearless, noting his role as a public commentator after leaving office.
According to Olawepo-Hashim, Na’abba’s tenure as the number one legislator in the National Assembly provided stability, cohesion across party lines, and collaboration with the executive arm of government. The late politician was celebrated as a distinguished parliamentarian and an extraordinary public intellectual who lived a life of impact.
Ghali Na’abba, who served as the second speaker of the Federal House of Representatives from 1999 to 2003, was recognized for championing the doctrine of separation of powers and leading the House to pass landmark legislations. Olawepo-Hashim prayed for the eternal rest of Na’abba and conveyed his wishes for the family to find fortitude in this challenging time.
