The Clerk to the Senate, Chinedu Akubueze, announced that the Senate’s plenary would commence at 1 pm, according to a statement made available to the press on Saturday morning. Similarly, the Clerk to the House of Representatives, Dr. Yahaya Danzaria, confirmed that the House members would also convene at 1 pm.
The Senate leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, emphasized the commitment of federal lawmakers to cut short their holidays to ensure the swift passage of the 2024 appropriations bill.
Bamidele assured Nigerians that the National Assembly would pass the budget on December 30, noting that they had expedited the process by having ministries, departments, and agencies appear before joint sittings of relevant committees.
The Senate leader mentioned that this approach had saved time, with the aim of having the budget on President Muhammadu Buhari’s desk for assent on January 1, 2024.
