• Location: The arrest occurred between 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. at a building in the Ijebu-Ijesa area of Osun State.

• Legal Basis: The arrest was prompted by a bench warrant issued by a Federal High Court in Abuja following his failure to appear for an eight-count arraignment.

• Tracking Operation:

  • The Department of State Services (DSS) had previously tracked Adeyemi to Ibadan, but he evaded capture by frequently turning off his phone.

  • After the DSS withdrew from the case, the Intelligence Response Team took over the investigation.

  • While in Osun State for surveillance duties regarding the upcoming August 15 governorship election, the team identified Adeyemi’s location in the Aregbe-Fakule area of Osogbo on July 9.

  • Following intensified efforts after his location was traced to Ilesa late Monday, the team successfully apprehended him on Tuesday morning.

• Operational Secrecy: The team operated from the area commander’s office in Oke-Fia, Osogbo, and did not notify the Osun State Commissioner of Police until they were executing the arrest.

• Adeyemi is currently being held at the Force Headquarters in Abuja.
