The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has deployed 25,000 personnel nationwide to safeguard lives and critical infrastructure during the yuletide season. Afolabi emphasized the need for comprehensive operational strategies and robust security arrangements throughout the country. The deployment includes overt and covert officers tasked with protecting vital government infrastructure and national assets such as oil pipelines, electrical installations, airports, railway stations, and government buildings. The Safe School Initiative Project, with the Special Rapid Response Squad and the Female Squad, will continue ensuring the round-the-clock protection of schools nationwide to prevent attacks or kidnappings.
Senior officers are directed to supervise the deployed personnel closely, ensuring professionalism in their duties. The statement issued a stern warning, cautioning officers to execute their assigned duties with utmost professionalism and strict adherence to rules of engagement, with consequences for any officer found wanting.
The Commandant-General urged officers to collaborate effectively with other security agencies to guarantee a smooth celebration, while also encouraging the public to remain law-abiding, security-conscious, and report criminal activities promptly. Extending congratulations to the Christian faithful and the general public, the CG urged Christians to celebrate the symbolic anniversary of Christ’s birth and expressed gratitude for their unwavering support in the Corps’ fight against crimes and criminal elements.
