Representing President Bola Tinubu—the candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC)—were Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume and APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda. Following the announcement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declaring the Accord Party candidate as the winner of the Saturday, August 15, 2026 poll, Davido spoke to journalists in Ede on Tuesday during ongoing celebrations. He remarked on how drastically different public commentary would have been if the election results had gone the other way.

Commending young voters for revitalizing public confidence, Davido highlighted their dedication to following proper legal procedures through every stage of the electoral process, from polling units and wards to local government collation centers and the final INEC headquarters.

Clarifying Political Stances and Future Plans

Addressing rumors about whether his active participation in regional politics signals personal political ambitions, Davido firmly dismissed the idea, clarifying that he has no plans to run for office. Instead, he remains dedicated to fostering regional development through youth empowerment and the entertainment sector, building on his role as Chairman of the Osun State Sports Trust Fund.

Looking ahead, the artist outlined several upcoming initiatives for the state:

• Post-Inauguration Concert: Planning a major live concert following the gubernatorial inauguration in December, featuring a talent search competition to allow local young artists to share the stage.
