Acknowledging the vital role journalists played in his life, Shaibu, describing himself as an ambassador of the chapel, expressed gratitude for the pivotal role a journalist played in saving him from incarceration during the regime of Gen. Sanni Abacha.

Highlighting the strained relationship with the governor, Shaibu said, “You know there is tension between the governor and I. And for six months, there has been no allocation to my office. So, whatever I am doing is contributions from friends and my goodwill; and I am still standing very strong.”

He emphasized his commitment to good governance and prioritizing the welfare of the people of Edo State. Shaibu stated, “I am determined to make sure that in all things, Edo must be first, and I am determined to strengthen institutions. I came into politics because I felt that we should have an egalitarian society.”

Shaibu highlighted his goal of strengthening institutions to create a balanced society that addresses the needs of all citizens, regardless of their social status. He expressed his readiness to provide a comprehensive overview of his tenure as deputy governor in the coming weeks through a world press conference, showcasing the sacrifices made to ensure Edo State functions effectively.

News reports that Momodu, speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday, said the APC is afraid that the Osun gubernatorial election has sent the wrong signal to Nigerians ahead of the 2027 election.
