Nigerians React As South-South Leader Urges Wike To Allow Independence In Rivers-Governance (Details)
The National Coordinator of the South-South Leadership Forum, Chief Anabs Sara-Igbe, revealed in an interview with Channels Television on Saturday that leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) played a crucial role in preventing the resignation of the Rivers State Governor. This decision was prompted by the escalating leadership conflict between the governor and the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike…..CONTINUE READING....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Sara-Igbe explained that Governor Fubara was considering resignation due to Wike’s dominating influence in his cabinet and control over state affairs. Fubara faced challenges in managing state funds and the overall governance of the state. Even after leaving office, Wike continued to exert influence on government operations and the governor’s management of state affairs.
The former spokesperson for the Pan-Niger Delta Forum emphasized that Fubara’s reluctance to continue stemmed from his inability to assert independence and control over state finances, prompting PDP leaders’ intervention to dissuade him from resigning.
Sara-Igbe further criticized Wike for his perceived interference in governance after leaving office, citing a decline in internally generated revenue and the allocation of federal funds for specific projects. He highlighted the governor’s frustration in running the government without sufficient resources and the minister’s hostile attitude towards the governor.
The National Coordinator also drew parallels with other political relationships, urging Wike to allow Fubara to govern independently. He expressed concern over attempts to make a sitting governor subservient, emphasizing the significant influence and power associated with the governor’s office.
Additionally, Sara-Igbe addressed the defection of 27 PDP Assembly lawmakers to the APC, suggesting that Wike’s strained relationship with Fubara influenced this move. Despite the lawmakers claiming their actions were not orchestrated by the minister, Sara-Igbe argued that their godfather’s support played a crucial role.
In conclusion, Sara-Igbe highlighted the challenges faced by governors in maintaining independence and emphasized the need for harmonious relationships between leaders for effective governance.

Regarding the polling process, INEC reported that all 2,445 units were opened for the election. While 92.31% of units (2,257) commenced voting by the 8:30 am scheduled time, 188 units (7.69%) faced minor delays, beginning operations by 10:30 am.
Although the commission described the general atmosphere as peaceful and orderly, some areas experienced challenges with the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS). These technical glitches, which particularly impacted biometric capture for elderly voters, resulted in long queues and frustration at several polling sites. Electoral officials were able to address these issues, allowing voting to proceed in the affected locations.

‘This Is Good News Peter Obi, Atiku Don’t Want To Hear’ – Presidency Hails Nigeria’s Surging Foreign Reserves.
The Presidency has accused key opposition figures, including former 2023 presidential candidates Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi, of intentionally ignoring positive economic news under the Bola Tinubu administration.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy to the President, stated in a post on X (formerly Twitter) this past Saturday that Nigeria’s foreign reserves have surged to $51.04 billion as of June 18. According to Onanuga, this represents the highest level in 17 years, surpassing the $50.5 billion recorded in January 2009.
Onanuga claimed that opposition candidates and parties are reluctant to acknowledge this development, preferring to maintain the narrative that President Tinubu has achieved nothing since taking office. He argued that “stubborn facts of the administration’s solid achievements” continue to contradict the opposition’s stance.
In unrelated political commentary, Professor Usman Yusuf, the former Executive Secretary of the National Health Insurance Scheme, asserted during an interview with DCL English that Peter Obi is “not sellable in the North.“
Professor Yusuf argued that Obi cannot effectively penetrate the region and would face intense scrutiny from northern voters regarding his tenure as governor of Anambra State and his stance on the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Looking ahead to the 2027 electoral landscape, Yusuf identified the major contenders as President Tinubu of the APC, Atiku Abubakar (whom he associated with the ADC), and Obi.

The Tide Is Turning? Sam Amadi Predicts That Political Attacks On Obi Will Fail Spectacularly!.
Sam Amadi, the Director of the Abuja School of Social and Thought Politics, has stated that efforts to undermine the popularity of Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate Peter Obi have been unsuccessful due to the lack of credible evidence regarding corruption or scandals.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶
Amadi shared these sentiments in a post on X this past Saturday, which served as a response to an ongoing debate involving politician Kenneth Okonkwo and his comments regarding Obi and his supporters. Key aspects of Amadi’s perspective include:
-
Obi’s political appeal remains robust because his critics have failed to produce factual evidence that could harm his reputation.
-
Amadi noted that Obi’s political standing has not been diminished, as his detractors rely on “elitist derision” rather than actual revelations of misconduct.
-
He claimed that Obi possesses a clean record that other current presidential candidates cannot match, ultimately describing Obi as the “best available” candidate on the presidential slate.
-
Amadi argued that Obi’s history of public service has served as a shield against political attacks, further asserting that he remains the most formidable option among the current group of presidential hopefuls.
