Adebayo highlighted that the 9th National Assembly had successfully passed the bill, originally sponsored by Senator Ajibola Basiru. The absence of such a medical facility, according to Adebayo, has deprived the state of a top-tier healthcare center. He emphasized that Federal Medical Centres (FMCs) were established across the country to deliver high-quality and cost-effective tertiary healthcare services.
Expressing concern over the current situation, Adebayo stated, “Truth be told, the state is in desperate need of a medical centre to cater for the health of our people at a reasonable cost.” He pointed out that the people of Osun were suffering from exorbitant fees charged by private hospital proprietors in the state.
Adebayo highlighted the unique situation of Osun as the only state in the southwest without a Federal Medical Centre. The IPAC chairman appealed to the Tinubu administration to consider the numerous patients seeking medical attention in the state by promptly signing the FMC bill into law for the welfare of the residents.
