In a proactive move to address the actions of unpatriotic individuals undermining the Nigerian Ports Authority’s (NPA) electronic truck traffic management system, known as “eto,” officials and security agents conducted a thorough inspection of the MPS Pregate. Subsequent investigations within the terminal revealed an additional 164 vehicle number plates and 133 MSS stickers that were not affixed to any trucks, indicating a readiness for potential proxy bookings. The spurious number plates and MSS tickets were promptly confiscated, and the terminal manager was summoned for questioning.

This discovery reinforces the NPA’s stance on the existence of a deliberate and well-coordinated effort to subvert the electronic call-up system. The system was introduced by the NPA to eliminate human intervention in traffic management at ports, aiming to address the persistent issue of traffic congestion adversely affecting the national economy.

Despite challenges, the NPA remains steadfast in its commitment to strengthening the e-call up project and other process automation initiatives, seeking to propel the maritime sector to its maximum potential.
