In his communication, the Olisa explained that the selection process was conducted in strict adherence to Section 4(2) of the Chiefs Law of 1957 and established customary laws. He noted that after convening multiple meetings, the council decided to put forward five qualified candidates rather than a single nominee, leaving the final selection to the state government. The nominees are Prince Ademorin Aliu Kuye, Prince Isiaq Ayodele Adewale Adekoya (Eleruja), Prince Onabanjo Abimbola John, Prince Oluwaseun Waheed Omopenu Onanuga, and Prince Olabode Onanuga.

Adesanya emphasized that the decision was made to ensure the continued prosperity and progress of Ijebuland, noting that the selected princes possess the experience and background necessary to serve the interests of the state and the nation.
