Contrary to earlier reports, the leadership of Tudun Biri community in Igabi Local Government Area of Kaduna State disavowed the assertion that the community had filed a N33 billion lawsuit against the Federal Government. The incident occurred while villagers were celebrating Maulud, and the Nigerian Army, responsible for the accidental bombing, issued an apology.

On December 5, Defence Headquarters spokesperson Buba confirmed that the military high command would conduct an investigation, with a panel to be established for this purpose. Providing an update on Wednesday, Buba stated that the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, had formed the panel, comprising eight senior officers representing the six geopolitical zones of the country.

In the midst of these developments, the leadership of Tudun Biri community expressed ignorance about the alleged N33 billion lawsuit filed by Dalhatu Salihu on behalf of the bombing victims. During a visit to Sir Kashim Ibrahim House in the state capital, community leaders clarified that they were not aware of, nor did they authorize, the filing of the lawsuit. They emphasized their satisfaction with the actions taken by the Federal Government and the support received from the Kaduna State government.

The Village Head of Tudun Biri, Mallam Balarabe Garba, conveyed gratitude during a thank-you visit to Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State. He emphasized that the community did not support legal action against the government and appreciated the measures taken by both the Federal and State governments in response to the bombing.

Rev. Musa Saidu, the leader of the Christians in Tudun Biri, echoed these sentiments, expressing unity and gratitude for the government’s support. Mallam Ashiru Ja’afaru, the Chief Imam of Tudun Biri, expressed delight over the government’s attention to the community during the tragic incident and disassociated the community from the legal action.

Responding to these developments, Governor Uba Sani highlighted efforts to prevent the incident from being politicized or given a religious coloration. He assured the community that the Kaduna State government would continue to support them, and a committee would be formed to decide the distribution of donations from well-meaning Nigerians. The governor urged the community to identify five representatives for this committee and pledged that the funds would directly benefit the families affected by the tragedy.
