Highlighting the significant challenge posed by millions of out-of-school children in Nigeria, Mamman emphasized the need for graduates with practical skills and competencies contributing to national development. He acknowledged the prevailing concerns about the quality of graduates from universities and polytechnics.

The minister outlined the government’s policy focus on addressing the out-of-school children issue, aiming to provide opportunities for as many of them as possible to return to school. For those who may not return, the ministry intends to empower them through short-term skills training, enabling meaningful engagement with society.

Mamman emphasized the ministry’s collaboration with stakeholders to review Nigeria’s school curriculum, emphasizing skills acquisition for students. He urged universities to incorporate skills training and entrepreneurship into their curricula, ensuring the production of graduates capable of self-reliance.

In terms of budget allocation for 2024, the ministry received a total of N101.45 billion, with N5.88 billion designated for personnel costs, N1.08 billion for overhead costs, and N94.48 billion for capital expenditures.

Addressing the rising number of out-of-school children, Rep. Aliyu Mustapha, Chairman of the House Committee on Alternative Education, expressed the House’s concern. He commended the minister for prioritizing out-of-school children, youth, and adult literacy, noting that the National Assembly is actively working to increase allocations to address these challenges.

Sam Amadi Sparks 2027 Debate, Urges Atiku Abubakar And Peter Obi To Join Forces.

The Director of the Abuja School of Social and Political Thought, Sam Amadi, has argued that presidential hopefuls Atiku Abubakar and Peter Obi can only secure victory in the 2027 election through a joint ticket.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Amadi made the statement in a post shared on his X handle on Friday, where he stressed that Nigeria operates as a republic in which all citizens should be treated equally, without class distinctions.

According to him, any candidate capable of securing over six million votes deserves full political respect and should not be treated as politically insignificant.

He argued that no aspirant should continue to dominate others, especially when collaboration may offer a stronger path to victory.

In his words, if Obi cannot win alone, Atiku also cannot win alone, and if both must work together to succeed, then Obi should lead the proposed alliance ahead of Atiku.

Amadi suggested that an Obi-Atiku arrangement would be more appropriate than an Atiku-Obi ticket.

Meanwhile, Amadi also claimed that President Bola Tinubu is politically wary of Peter Obi appearing on the ballot in 2027.

In an earlier post, he advised Obi, who is reportedly seeking the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket, to develop an alternative political strategy if he intends to remain in the race.

Amadi further alleged that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) could attempt to use the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the courts to undermine or proscribe the ADC.

He urged Obi to activate a “Plan B” quickly, warning that political developments could threaten his chances of appearing on the ballot.

Amadi also claimed that Tinubu would face difficulty campaigning aggressively and argued that Nigeria’s current condition could make Obi a formidable electoral threat.

Dua Lipa Set To Miss Joshua Vs Fury Superfight As Wembley Eyed For Bout.

Pop star Dua Lipa is not expected to perform at the proposed heavyweight showdown between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury later this year.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

The highly anticipated all-British clash, which is being targeted for the end of 2026, had briefly been linked to the singer after Turki Al-Sheikh suggested the event’s promotional plans could be affected without her involvement.

While it remains uncertain whether the comment was made seriously or humorously, BBC Sport reports that Dua Lipa was approached but turned down the offer.

A final venue for the fight has not yet been confirmed, although Wembley Stadium in October is currently seen as the leading option.

Major music performances have increasingly become part of high-profile boxing events in recent years. Eminem famously accompanied Terence Crawford to the ring for his title fight against Errol Spence Jr., while Liam Gallagher performed before Daniel Dubois’ victory over Joshua at Wembley in 2024. 50 Cent also featured during Chris Eubank Jr.’s ringwalk for his rematch with Conor Benn last year.

However, before a fight with Fury can happen, Joshua is first scheduled to face Kristian Prenga in Saudi Arabia on July 25.

Fury, who recently came out of retirement, returned to action last month with a victory over Arslanbek Makhmudov and is reportedly considering another bout while waiting for negotiations to be finalised.

Promoter Frank Warren has warned that a loss for Joshua this summer could jeopardise the long-anticipated clash with Fury.

Although talks for the blockbuster fight have repeatedly collapsed over the past decade, both fighters are expected to earn record-breaking purses if the bout finally takes place.

Tinubu’s first stop will be France before proceeding to Nairobi, Kenya, where he will participate in the Africa-France Summit set to begin next week.

The summit, co-chaired by French President Emmanuel Macron and Kenyan President William Ruto, will focus on key issues such as energy transition, green industrialisation, digital transformation, global financial reform, and climate action.

President Tinubu’s attendance at the summit, scheduled for May 11 to May 12, is expected to reinforce Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening strategic ties with African nations and France.

After the Kenya summit, Tinubu will travel to Kigali, Rwanda, to attend the annual Africa CEO Forum from May 14 to May 15.

This year’s forum, themed “Scale or Fail,” is expected to gather more than 2,000 business leaders, investors, and policymakers to explore strategies for economic growth, regional integration, and increased cross-border investment.

Organised in partnership with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), the event will focus on building stronger and more competitive African industries.

At both international engagements, Tinubu is expected to present his administration’s economic reforms aimed at positioning Nigeria as a leading destination for investment and growth.

He will also hold high-level meetings with African and global business leaders during the trip.

The President will be accompanied by selected ministers and senior government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria after concluding his engagements in Rwanda.
