He pointed out that nations, including Nigeria, shoulder the responsibility of protecting their citizens against transnational issues like terrorism, climate change, and cybercrime. Speaking at the graduation ceremony of the Executive Intelligence Management Course 16, 2023, at the National Institute for Security Studies (NISS) in Abuja on Saturday, the Vice President conveyed to the graduates that they possess the intellectual capacity to effectively counter these global threats and maintain stability on the continent.

Shettima emphasized the need for cutting-edge information, transformative skills, and innovative ideas, as exemplified by the NISS graduates, to enable Nigeria and its neighboring countries to secure their borders from both internal and external challenges.

He stated, “In today’s world, every region has been actively seeking alliances to prevent external aggressions and devise solutions to internal threats. This pragmatic approach is essential for mitigating crises and fostering stability. However, the realization of these goals depends on the leadership of well-trained individuals heading institutions entrusted with the solemn duty of making decisions to safeguard lives, protect properties, and uphold peace.
