Lawyer Femi Emodamori has challenged the assertion made by Ondo State Commissioner for Energy and Mineral Resources, Razaq Obe, regarding the alleged forgery of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s signature. Obe had raised concerns about the forgery of the governor’s signature on documents received from the Secretary to the State Government (SSG). Emodamori disputed the authenticity of the forensic analysis, noting that the report did not specify the document subjected to analysis, and the entity or person requesting the analysis was fictitious, making it legally questionable.

The lawyer suggested that Obe, possibly aligned with one of the political factions in the state, might be playing a role in the alleged forgery, emphasizing Obe’s recent shift from Akeredolu’s camp to that of the deputy governor.

Emodamori emphasized that only Governor Akeredolu could definitively confirm whether his signature had been forged. He pointed out inconsistencies, highlighting that the forensic report named the client as the “Act for Positive Transformation Initiative,” not Engr. Razaq Obe or the Ondo State Commissioner for Energy, creating ambiguity about who engaged the alleged forensic expert.

In light of these discrepancies, Emodamori called for a thorough investigation, identifying Engr. Razaq Obe as a primary suspect and emphasizing the need to involve the purported forensic expert in any inquiry. He urged a comprehensive examination focused on the governor, the purported victim of the alleged signature forgery.

According to him, the situation has heightened awareness among citizens, leading to increased political participation and a steady influx of new members into the party.

Abdullahi stated that the surge in registrations became noticeable after INEC’s decision affecting David Mark, noting that many Nigerians now have a clearer understanding of ongoing political developments.

The development comes amid an ongoing leadership crisis within the ADC, with factions led by Nafiu Bala and David Mark both laying claim to the party’s structure.

The dispute, which dates back to July 2025 following the emergence of an opposition coalition, has resulted in prolonged legal battles.

Citing a March 12 judgment of the Court of Appeal, INEC announced that it would not recognise either faction, a position conveyed in a statement by its National Commissioner for Information and Voter Education, Mohammed Haruna.

The electoral body added that it would refrain from engaging with both groups, including participation in their meetings, congresses, or conventions, pending the outcome of a case before a Federal High Court.
