He made this known during an interview on the Mic On Podcast hosted by Seun Akinbaloye, where he reflected on his time in the ruling party and his decision to exit.

Melaye said the political environment he found himself in at the time no longer aligned with his values, adding that he had to step away to reassess his direction in politics.

He compared the decision to a major personal turning point, stressing that it was not made hastily but after deep reflection on his future.

According to him, leaving the party was necessary for his personal and political survival as the situation had become difficult to manage.

He said the experience marked a significant change in his political journey, prompting him to seek a new path that better suited his beliefs and ambitions.

Speaking on a podcast interview with Ifedayo Agoro, he explained that the incident happened before a Sunday service when he arrived early and greeted some ministers.

According to him, he hugged a female pastor during the exchange and noticed that her body appeared to shake in an unusual way.

He said that shortly after entering the auditorium and sitting down, he began to feel a similar sensation in his own body, despite no prayer or worship session having started.

The actor stated that the feeling intensified unexpectedly, to the point where he lost control and eventually fell to the floor before the service began.

He added that his wife, who was seated beside him, witnessed the incident and was equally confused by what happened.

Etim-Effiong said the experience stayed with him and later made him reflect more seriously on his spiritual journey, describing it as something he could not easily explain.

Those present reportedly included Senator Victor Umeh, former Anambra State Governor Achike Udenwa, and Victor Oganku.

Sources said the meeting focused on plans to strengthen opposition unity and discuss strategies ahead of the next election cycle.

The gathering comes as opposition leaders continue efforts to build a stronger political alliance capable of challenging the ruling party in 2027.

Amaechi, Obi, and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar are all linked to the African Democratic Congress (ADC), where they are believed to be eyeing the party’s presidential ticket.

Amaechi previously contested the APC presidential primary in 2023, finishing second behind President Bola Tinubu.

The ADC has reportedly been considering a consensus method for selecting its presidential candidate, although Amaechi has opposed the idea, insisting on open competition.

He has maintained that aspirants should test their popularity through a transparent process, while also expressing readiness to support any candidate who emerges, including Atiku.
